Co-hosts Switzerland knocked out of Euro 2008

Co-hosts Switzerland are out of Euro 2008 after losing 2-1 to Turkey in Group A of the competition last night.

The Swiss now have no change of going through after losing their two opening games.

Earlier yesterday, Portugal became the first country through to the quarter-finals after beating the Czech Republic 3-1.

That means the Czechs and the Turks will be doing battle this weekend for the second quarter-final place in Group A.

Meanwhile, the second round of games in Group B takes place today, with Germany taking on Croatia and Austria battling for survival against Poland.
