Coventry knock Man Utd out of Carling Cup

Manchester United are out of this year's Carling Cup after losing to Coventry in the third round of the competition last night.

Michael Mifsud scored twice for the Championship side as they recorded a 2-0 victory at Old Trafford.

Chelsea, meanwhile, beat Hull 4-0 in their first victory under new manager Avram Grant.

Salomon Kalou scored twice, with Scott Sinclair and Steve Sidwell claiming the other goals.

Elsewhere, Tottenham defeated Middlesbrough 2-0, Blackburn beat Birmingham 3-0, Bolton saw off Fulham 2-1 after extra time, Everton had a 3-0 away win at Sheffield Wednesday, West Ham were 1-0 victors over Plymouth and Aston Villa lost 1-0 to Leicester.
