Liverpool suffer second Champions League defeat
Wednesday, 21 October 2009
Liverpool are in major trouble in the Champions League this morning after a second consecutive defeat in Group E of the competition.
Rafael Benitez's men took the lead through Yossi Benayoun at Anfield last night, but Lyon equalised the tie midway through the second half before scoring a winning goal with just seconds left in the game.
The result leaves Liverpool third in Group E with just three points from their opening three games.
To add to their misfortune, captain Steven Gerrard limped off the field in the first half due to the recurrence of a groin injury.
