Man Utd CEO denies conflict of interest in FA role
Wednesday, 14 January 2009
Manchester United chief executive David Gill has hit back at Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez following his recent criticism of the club.
Benitez claimed United were getting favourable treatment and questioned Gill's influence within the FA due to his position on the board of the association.
However, the Manchester United CEO insists there is no conflict of interest between his roles at Old Trafford and the FA.
He says he and other representatives are elected every year by all the clubs in the Premier League and his role is to represent the league, not Manchester United.
