Manchester City sign old boy Wright-Phillips
Thursday, 28 August 2008
Manchester City have signed Chelsea winger Shaun Wright-Phillips for an undisclosed fee.
The 26 year old spent seven years at City before being sold to Chelsea for 21 million pounds.
Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari had informed the attacking winger, who has nineteen international caps for England, that he was surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge .
Wright-Phillips returns to City having made his name with the Sky Blues in a successful period between 1999 and 2005 where he made 158 first team appearances.
The England star had only started 43 times for the Chelsea Pensioners and it's thought they may have made a loss of over ten million pounds sterling.
