St. Pats defeat Swedish side with 2 late goals

Friday, 29 August 2008

The European dream for St Patrick's Athletic remains very much alive.

The Saints fought back from a goal down at Richmond Park to claim a place in the next round of the UEFA Cup.

The reward for the Inchicore side is a mouth watering tie against German giants Hertha Berlin in the first round of the UEFA Cup.

Late goals from Jason Gavin and Mark Quigley gave the Eircom League side a 2-1 win over Swedish side Elfsborg.

The tie finished 4-3 to Pat's over both legs.

Their manager Johnny McDonnell said the two late goals were due to good preperation.
