Swim records continue to be smashed at World Championships

Two more Irish records were broken this morning at the World Swimming Championships in Rome.
Karl Burdis snipped nearly a second off the men's 50m backstroke record, with a new mark of 25.4 seconds, but neither he nor Donal O'Neill qualified for the semis.
The women's 4X100m medley relay team has set a new record of 4:12.67, but bow out, as have Clare Dawson and Fiona Doyle in the women's 50m freestyle.
Six world records fell in Rome last night, making it 35 smashed at the World Championships in total.
Michael Phelps claimed his third gold medal, and fourth overall, as the United States won the men's 4x200m freestyle relay in a world record time of 6:58.55, 0.01 quicker than in Beijing.
