Thursday, 29 January 2009
There is more bad news on the jobs front with 120 jobs to be lost with the closure of the Castletroy Park Hotel in Limerick.
The hotel closed its doors this morning and ceased trading with immediate effect, leaving 120 people out of work.
It follows crisis talks between management and staff earlier this week in a bid to save the business.
Meanwhile, talks are underway to try to secure the future of Waterford Crystal.
Union representatives from the company are meeting with Government officials today following news that another potential investor, Clarion LLP, is interested in buying the plant.
Over 300 jobs are at risk if the future of the factory isn't secured.
And global drugs giant AstraZeneca has announced it's cutting 6,000 jobs worldwide.
It is not yet known if the 100 people employed by the company in Dublin will be affected.
