Belfast public gather to reject racism
Thursday, 2 July 2009
A rally is being held in the North today in protest over the recent spate of racist attacks in Belfast.
The protest comes after more than 100 Romanians left the North after their homes were targeted.
Other ethnic minority groups have also been threatened.
Police have also warned Alliance party politician Anna Lo, the only member of the Northern Ireland Assembly from an ethnic minority background, that she is under threat.
Trade unionists are appealing to the public to attend the rally at Belfast's City Hall at 1pm today.
