Tuesday, 13 January 2009
The trial is underway at the Central Criminal Court of a man accused of murdering another man in Dublin eight years ago.
Twenty-seven-year-old Brian Rattigan, of Cooley Road in Drimnagh, denies the murder of Declan Gavin, who was fatally stabbed outside a fast-food outlet in Crumlin in the early hours of August 25th, 2001.
The jury of six men and six women has been told that many young people were in the vicinity of Crumlin Shopping Centre on the night of Mr Gavin's murder.
The trial has been told that a man wearing a balaclava attacked Mr Gavin with a knife, stabbing him in the arm and chest, before fleeing the scene in a Nissan Micra.
Mr Gavin was brought to St James's Hospital, where he died a few hours later.
