Man who shot Charlie Chawke dies at Mater Hospital

The man who shot Dublin publican Charlie Chawke has died after falling ill while serving a 15-year prison sentence.

Fifty-nine-year-old Larry Cummins, from Mellowes Road in Finglas, was jailed three years ago for his role in the robbery and shooting of Mr Chawke in 2003.

The Irish Prison Service confirmed today that Cummins had died in the Mater Hospital after an illness.

Mr Chawke lost party of his right leg after being shot with a pump-action shotgun during the 2003 robbery.
