New administration may bring hope to undocumented Irish in the US

Sunday, 28 December 2008

The Irish Lobby for Immigration Reform in the United States said it is hopeful the change of US President next month will be good news for the undocumented from this country.

Democratic President-elect Barack Obama will succeed Republican President George W. Bush on January 20th.

There are growing expectations that the new US administration will be more sympathetic to the undocumented Irish.

It is believed there are approximately 40,000 undocumented Irish living in the United States.

Ciaran Staunton from Westport who is involved with the Irish Lobby for Immigration Reform said 'we need a proactive Taoiseeach and the Irish-American community in the US needs a strong partner in the Irish Government when we are dealing with people in Capitol Hill.'

He also said that things are looking better this year for the Irish undocumented in the US than last year.

I stayed beyond my visa, was illegal for three years, obtained a Green Card, enlisted into the US Army, graduated from University, and was commissioned an Officer in the US Army.
For a "criminal" I made out to be a pretty good American.
I suspect you have done little for your country besides exerise your right to free speach.

Your Welcome

Entering the United States without the documentation required by our law is a crime. Staying here after expiry of the time allowed by your documents is also a crime. Criminals don't turn into good
Americans, no matter where they come from. Neither Taoiseach
nor Irish Lobby are entitled to any say in the making or enforce-
ment of American law. We ourselves are the only ones with the right to do that, and foreigners who are arrogant enough to think they can ride roughshod over us would do well to remember
that old American flag that says "Don't tread on me".

"Undocumented immigrants" is a misnomer. This is nothing more than liberal politically correct terminology for "illegal aliens". True immigrants are documented. Your political correctness is a slap in the face to those immigrants who came to the U.S. legally. Take back your illegals and deal with them in Ireland. If they want to be U.S. citizens they need to do it LEGALLY, or be deported, or fined and imprisoned under the United States Code. The nanny state has come to an end with the Bush administration. Obama is going to be hammered by the American people to clean up this nation of lawless government.

The USA policy seems to welcome only the 3rd World immigration law breakers. The civilized must abide by our laws.
