Robinson receives Medal of Freedom at White House

Former Irish President Mary Robinson has received the highest civilian honour in the United States during a special ceremony at the White House.
Mrs Robinson was one of 16 people to be awarded a Presidential Medal of Freedom by Barack Obama last night.
She was recognised for her work to promote equality and human rights during her term as Irish President and her role as UN High Commissioner for Human Rights.
Other recipients of the Medal of Freedom last night included Archbishop Desmond Tutu, physicist Stephen Hawking, Senator Ted Kennedy and the assassinated politician and gay rights activist Harvey Milk.
