Tuesday, 14 October 2008
Measures announced in this afternoon's budget mean it's going to cost more to take to the skies from next year.
Finance Minister Brian Lenihan announced a new travel tax which will be introduced from March 2009.
"This tax will apply to all departures from Irish airports," the minister said.
"A rate of €10 per passenger will apply, with a lower rate of €2 for shorter air journeys"
"This new tax is estimated to yield €95 million in 2009, and €150 million in a full year."
