Two brothers have been jailed for 21-and-a-half years in total for killing a 30 year-old man in Killarney, Co Kerry, after they found him in bed with one of their former girlfriends.
Twenty-eight-year-old Gerard O'Riordan was jailed for 12-and-a-half years and Shane O'Riordan was handed down a nine-year jail term.
Both, with an addresses at Arbutus Grove, Killarney, Co Kerry, were convicted of the manslaughter of 30-year-old James Brazier in April 2007.
Shane O'Riordan and his brother Gerard went to the home of an ex-girlfriend of Shane's.
They went into the girl's room and found her in bed with 30-year-old James Brazier.
Gerard O'Riordan grabbed Mr Brazier and, in the judge's words, commenced a savage attack on him while he was asleep.
His brother Shane flew into a rage and joined the assault.
He picked up a knife from the dresser and stabbed the 30-year-old in the back 12 times.
The court heard Gerard O'Riordan has 35 previous convictions and Shane O'Riordan has 11, including one for beating a man so badly he ended up brain-damaged.
In sentencing, Mr Justice Barry White said: "It seems to me it was almost inevitable one or other or both of you would end up killing someone."
