Court hears details of weapons used in Belfast murder

The Special Criminal Court trial of a man accused of shooting dead a taxi driver in Belfast last year has heard details about the weapons used in his murder.
Jonathan Greer, a forensic scientist in the north, told the court that a .38 inch calibre bullet was recovered from the body of Edward Burns, and that it was probably fired from a Smith and Wesson revolver.
The 36-year-old father of five died from a single gun shot fired at close range.
26-year-old Gerard Mackin from the Whiterock area of west Belfast, and with an address in Tallaght, denies murdering Mr Burns at Bog Meadows on the Falls Road on March 12th last year.
He also denies the attempted murder of 25-year-old Damien O'Neill, who was shot twice during the incident but survived.
