Gaza pupil teaches Martin a lesson

Mr Martin has travelled to the war-torn territory as part of a humanitarian trip to witness conditions on the ground in light of the "completely unacceptable blockade" imposed by Israel.
On a visit to Rafah Prep C Girls School, Mr Martin encountered a young student whose forthright views left an lasting impression on him.
Through an interpreter, 10-year-old Reem Abu Owida gave the minister some handy tips about dispute resolution to take back home.
Reem, her hands clasped on the table in front of the minister, two white roses in her hair, told of a scheme where fighting kids learn to resolve their differences, at times raising her finger in the air to emphasise her point.
"You're very articulate, if you don't mind me saying so, and self confident," Mr Martin said.
"We could do with you in Ireland. We've a few disputes to resolve."
The school, one of 228 run by the United Nations, was built before the devastating Israeli blockade which has stifled trade and helped swell the ranks of the Islamic militant group Hamas, Palestinian business leaders said.
"I have repeatedly expressed my serious concerns over the situation in Gaza and called for an end to the unjust blockade imposed against its population," Mr Martin said.
Business chiefs complain the blockade has crippled the economy, brought unemployment to over 50% and forced Palestinians to engage in illegal smuggling through underground tunnels.
