More than 900 jobs to go at Limavady plant

The US company Seagate Technology has announced that over 900 jobs are being axed at its plant in Co. Derry.

The announcement that the Limavady plant is to close was made to workers this afternoon.

Seagate which operates another manufacturing plant in Derry and a customer service centre in Bray established its Limavady base in 1997 to make components for use in Seagate hard drives

Local politicians from all four of the main parties have warned about the impact of the impending job losses on the area.
