Voters urged not to use Lisbon to hit Govt
Tuesday, 29 September 2009
Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny has again urged voters not to use the referendum on the Lisbon Treaty as an opportunity to hit the Government.
The 'yes' camp fears that opposition to the Government's policies on the financial crisis and the public finances will boost the 'no' vote in Friday's referendum.
However, Mr Kenny said today that voters would get their opportunity at the next general election to vote the Government out of power.
He said the Lisbon vote was about Ireland and the message it wants to send out to Europe.
