Publican Mark 'Del Boy' Drumm with his new delivery van

Publican Mark 'Del Boy' Drumm with his new delivery van

An imaginative publican has gone the extra mile to ensure none of his customers miss their seasonal helping of TV favourite Only Fools and Horses.

Mark 'Del Boy' Drumm, 28, choose the festive period to unveil his new delivery van - a yellow three-wheel Reliant Regal.

Mark, who runs Magee's Spirit Store in Enniskillen, Northern Ireland, flew to Southampton to pick up the classic motor made famous by the Trotter brothers and then drove it more than 300 miles to Holyhead in Wales to get the ferry back home.

"That was some experience," he laughed. "Its top speed is 50mph so it was a long trip. You know you're having a bad day when you get passed by a bin lorry.

"It was like sailing a boat - any gust of wind blew you across the road and I was fearful it would tip over every time I went round a roundabout."

The van needed some work before Mark achieved the authentic Trotters Independent Traders (TIT) look. For starters, it was red.

"I got a painter in Enniskillen to give it the once over and get Magee's on the side of it," he explained. "He did a great job. Though to be fair I actually spent more on the paint job than the van itself."

While Magee's isn't quite the Nag's Head, Mark's sure the expense and effort will be well worth it when his locals get their first butchers at it.

"There are plenty of Rodneys in my bar let me tell you, and a fair few Triggers too, so they'll love it," he said. "I plan to use it to give lifts home to valued customers at the end of the night and for collecting cash and carry deliveries.

"It's a bit of craic really but it will be put to good use. I've also told the bar manager it's his company car - and he thought he was getting a BMW."

Don't let sisters stop you looking for love, Cheryl

What's wrong with wanting a man? I ask because lately I've lost count of the miserable, lonely female celebrities being told by other women that they should stay single.

Seeing is believing when it comes to the justice system

A Bill in the Queen’s Speech will, hopefully, speed up the process of letting some more sunlight into Northern Ireland’s rather musty justice system.

So that's why their pupils were glazed in Play School

Odd period, the 1970s. I've tended to deride them as grim, which they certainly were, but I appreciate now the music and, er, that's about it. They weren't particularly happy years in Northern Ireland.

Tragedy is opportunity for conflict resolution envoys

The Good Friday Agreement is a cure for which there is no known illness. Nowhere in its 11,000 words does it identify the problem which it purports to solve.
