Pupils warned after meningitis death at Derry school
Monday, 22 December 2008
A meningitis warning has been sent to pupils at a school in the north after a 16-year-old classmate died from the disease.
Terri Devine died in Altnagelvin hospital in Derry yesterday after falling ill early last week.
The year 12 student was on study leave from Holy Cross College in Strabane when she became sick.
The Western Health Board has now sent letters to parents of her classmates urging them to check their children for symptoms of the virus.
It is understood Terri was in school last Wednesday to sit a mock GCSE paper and complained of flu-like symptoms.
