Senator calls for reduction in alcohol advertising
Monday, 9 March 2009
Fianna Fail Senator Mary White has said alcohol advertising should be reduced in the next five years in order to curb suicide levels in this country.
She said the number of young people taking their lives on Sundays and Mondays reflect the high levels of alcohol consumption at weekends.
Her comments coincide with the start of a three-part documentary series on suicide which airs on television tonight.
Mary White said alcohol advertising doesn't mix with sport and music concerts.
