Unite trade union rules out any deferment of national wage deal
Sunday, 25 January 2009
The Unite trade union has said it will refuse to engage on any deferment of the national wage deal.
It follows a call from business group IBEC for the pay deal to be deferred due to the current economic difficulties.
The unions and social partners held intensive talks with the Government this week as part of plans to cut €2 billion in public expenditure.
Jimmy Kelly from Unite said there is adequate scope within the existing agreement to address pay concerns.
