Woman charged with murdering her daughter in Kilkenny

A woman has been charged with the murder of her teenage daughter in Kilkenny last November.

Forty-seven-year-old Lynn Gibbs appeared at Dun Laoghaire District Court this morning.

Sixteen-year-old Ciara Gibbs was found dead at her home between Gowran and Paulstown in Co Kilkenny on November 26th last.

Her father and brother, who had been away for the night, discovered her in the bathroom when they returned home that morning, but attempts to resuscitate her failed.

The teenager's mother, Lynn Gibbs, appeared at Dun Laoghaire District Court in Co Dublin this morning and was charged with her daughter's murder.

The court heard that, when charged, she made no reply.

She has been remanded to appear in court again next week.
