Zimbabwe cholera death toll rises above 1,700
Tuesday, 6 January 2009
The World Health Organisation says the death toll from the cholera outbreak in Zimbabwe has now surpassed 1,700.
The disease has spread to all of Zimbabwe's 10 provinces because of the collapse of the country's health and sanitation systems.
Almost 35,000 people have been infected since the outbreak began in August.
Officials fear the forthcoming rainy season could make the problem worse.
