55 killed in US missile attack on Taliban funeral
Wednesday, 24 June 2009
Around 55 people have been killed in a suspected US missile attack on a Taliban funeral in north-western Pakistan.
The funeral was being held yesterday for some of the victims of an earlier US missile attack in the area.
Pakistani intelligence officials have claimed that Pakistan Taliban leader Baitullah Mehsud narrowly escaped death in the second attack.
However, they later said that, while he had visited the village where the funeral was taking place, he had left before the US attack was launched.
Several senior Taliban fighters were reportedly killed or injured in the bombing.

Right Michael, and the Americans just love committing war crimes, with me specifically thinking of the village of Mi Lai in Vietnam, in 1968, when over five hundred men, women and children were murdered by US troops. As the old saying goes: " Countries and people who've not learned by history are bound to repeat it. " And that village in Farah Province, in western Afghanistan last month, when US bombers killed another 145 men, women and kids. And they complain about Iran?
