Chinese doctors separate eight-day-old conjoined twins
Thursday, 19 July 2007
Chinese doctors have successfully separated conjoined twin girls who shared parts of their hearts, livers and intestines.
The eight-day-old girls are in a critical condition at a hospital in Nanning after six hours of surgery yesterday.
It is rare for the operation to be carried out in twins so young, but doctors say one or both would have died if the surgery had been delayed.
