Taliban militants flee key town in southern Afghanistan
Monday, 10 December 2007
Taliban militants have fled a key town in southern Afghanistan that had been under their control since February.
The battle for Musa Qala has been ongoing since early last month, but fighting has intensified in the area in the last few days.
Local residents say the militants fled the town centre today.
The Afghan Defence Ministry said the town had been recaptured, but fighting was continuing in outlying areas.
