Six civilians killed during US raid in Afghanistan

Wednesday, March 19, 2008

US soldiers have killed six Afghan officials during a military raid in the east of the country this morning, according to a local official.

A woman and two children are said to be among the dead following the operation in the village of Hom, close to the Pakistani border.

All the victims were members of two related families.

The US military has been widely criticised by the Afghan authorities for a string of incidents in which its forces have killed innocent civilians.

It had no immediate comments on this morning's deaths.
