UN due to resume aid flights to Burma
Saturday, May 10, 2008
The United Nations is due to resume aid flights to Burma, even though the food and water may not get to those who need it.
It is exactly a week since a cyclone left thousands dead and many more at risk of disease.
Military leaders in the country have been heavily criticised for not doing enough for those left homeless.
They have pushed ahead with a referendum on a controversial new constitution despite the devastation.
UN Humanitarian Chief Sir John Holmes says help from outside must be accepted as the situation on the ground in Burma is desperate.
