British soldier killed in Afghan bomb attack
Monday, 20 July 2009
Another British soldier has died following a Taliban bomb attack on his patrol in southern Afghanistan.
The British army says the soldier was on foot patrol when he hit by an explosion in the Sangin area of Helmand province.
He is the 17th British soldier to die in Afghanistan so far this month and the 186th to die since the US and Britain invaded the country in late 2001.
The recent upsurge in deaths has triggered a new political row in Britain over whether the soldiers are being given enough resources, particularly helicopters.
