British soldier killed in southern Afghan ambush
Wednesday, 23 July 2008
A British soldier has died following an ambush on his patrol in southern Afghanistan last night.
Two other soldiers were also injured when the convoy came under attack in the Kajaki area of Helmand province.
Suspected Taliban militants opened fire on the British vehicles, one of which was hit by a bomb explosion while leaving the scene.
The dead man is the 111th British soldier to be killed since the US-led invasion of Afghanistan in late 2001.
