Diplomats allowed to meet Aung San Suu Kyi
Wednesday, 20 May 2009
Burma's military government has allowed international diplomats to meet pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi.
Ms Suu Kyi is currently on trial accused of breaching the terms of her house arrest.
She is being held in the notorious Insein Prison and could face a five-year sentence if convicted.
The charges relate to an American man who swam across a lake under cover of darkness and entered Ms Suu Kyi's house uninvited.
She apparently allowed him to stay for a number of days.
The authorities let diplomats meet Ms Suu Kyi today and also allowed five foreign correspondents into her trial.
