Irishman killed by Taliban bomb in Afghanistan
Friday, 14 November 2008
One of the two British soldiers killed in a Taliban bomb attack in Afghanistan earlier this week was an Irishman from Westport in Co Mayo.
The 32-year-old was serving with the Royal Marines in the south of the country when he got caught up in the bomb blast on Wednesday.
His vehicle was hit by a roadside explosion in Helmand province, killing him and a colleague.
The pair are expected to be named by the British Ministry of Defence later today.
