NATO soldiers kill two children in Afghanistan
Monday, 28 July 2008
NATO soldiers have killed two children after opening fire on a car in southern Afghanistan.
The western military alliance says its troops shot at the car in Kandahar province after it came too close to their convoy.
The driver, who was injured in the attack, allegedly failed to heed warnings to keep his distance.
The nationality of the soldiers involved in the shooting has not been disclosed.
Afghan President Hamid Karzai has previously criticised NATO following several incidents in which the alliance has killed innocent Afghan civilians.
On Saturday, British soldiers operating under NATO command also killed four civilians after opening fire on their vehicle when it allegedly failed to stop at a checkpoint in Helmand province.
