EU ministers discuss crackdown on violent computer games
Tuesday, 16 January 2007
EU justice and interior ministers are due to discuss a proposed crackdown on violent computer games during talks in Germany today.
The move to curb the sale of violent games to minors has been proposed by EU Justice Commissioner Franco Frattini.
He has suggested the introduction of EU-wide labelling rules and a voluntary code of conduct on games targeted at children.
Frattini's proposals follow a shooting rampage by an 18-year-old German youth last year that the authorities blamed on his live of violent computer games.
