Second lot of confidential documents left on UK train
Sunday, 15 June 2008
Secret Government files on tackling terrorism and fighting crime have been left on a train in Britain; the second breach of its kind to emerge in less than a week.
The documents were picked up by a passenger on a service bound for London Waterloo on Wednesday.
They were then handed to Independent on Sunday journalist Simon Evans, who realised they were confidential.
"Given some of the details that were in there, it would be pretty obvious that they were sensitive," Mr Evans said, "And clearly this was not an isolated incident."
The Independent of Sunday gave the papers back to the British Treasury on Friday evening.
