In the UK, a complaint has been lodged over Peter Mandelson's links with big business while EU trade commissioner.
A pressure group has written to the president of the European Commission.
It wants an investigation into a strategy said to favour large organisations operating in world markets.
It comes as the British Cabinet minister was forced to clarify the extent of his dealings with Russian Oleg Deripaska.
