Eight dead in Siberian helicopter crash
Sunday, 11 January 2009
Eight people have been killed in a helicopter crash in the mountains of Western Siberia.
Rescuers have so far found three survivors at the site where the Mi-171 helicopter crashed, near the Chornaya Mountain in the rugged Altai region.
The 11 passengers on the aircraft included Alexander Kosopkin, who represents Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to the Russian parliament - it is not clear if he is among the survivors.
Rescue teams have been searching for the missing helicopter since Friday, after it went missing during what the Russian media say was a hunting trip.
