EU launches new strategy to target supply of drugs
Friday, 31 October 2008
The EU has launched a new strategy to tackle the sale and supply of drugs throughout Europe.
The four-year plan includes greater co-operation between police forces in the 27 member states to ensure they share intelligence about drugs operations.
The EU is also planning Europe-wide awareness campaigns and research programmes, targeting heroin and cocaine in particular.
There are currently an estimated two million problem drug addicts in Europe.
