Russia and Georgia accuse each other of continuing violence
Monday, 11 August 2008
Russia and Georgia are accusing each other of yet more violence, despite a ceasefire being signed.
President Saakashvili signed an EU-backed agreement earlier, but Moscow is refusing to consider the document.
The Minister for Foreign Affairs Micheal Martin said today that he was gravely concerned about the violence and that the Irish Government fully supports Georgia's sovereignty.
And US President George W Bush has said that the fighting is unacceptable.
