Scientists discover possible genetic link to obesity
Friday, 13 April 2007
They say people with two copies of a particular gene are 71% more likely to be obese than others.
The finding is based on a study involving almost 40,000 people
The study found that one-in-six people have two copies of the gene in question, which makes it harder for them to lose weight.
Nutritionists, however, say the weight difference in these people is relatively small and people still need to eat healthily and exercise to prevent obesity.
