At least five killed by car bomb in northern Lebanon
Monday, 29 September 2008
At least five people have been killed by a car bomb targeting a bus carrying Lebanese soldiers in the city of Tripoli this morning.
More than 20 others were also injured in the blast at the southern entrance to the city.
Most of the casualties are believed to be soldiers.
The attack was the second targeting Lebanese soldiers in Tripoli in less than two months.
On August 13th, 18 soldiers and civilians were killed by a roadside bomb which exploded while a military bus was passing by.
The area has been rocked in recent times by sectarian fighting between pro-government militias and pro-Syrian gunmen.
