Israel closes Gaza crossings after rocket attacks
Tuesday, 26 August 2008
Israel has closed crossing points into the Gaza Strip today in retaliation for a cross-border rocket attack yesterday.
The Israeli Defence Minister, Ehud Olmert, say the decision has been made after two rockets were fired from Gaza into southern Israel, causing no injuries or damage.
Israel had been gradually reopening crossing points into Gaza as part of a ceasefire deal with Hamas that was brokered in June.
No group has claimed responsibility for yesterday's rockets.

This is not "retaliation", this is "response". That's like saying the bank forclosed on your house in "retaliation" for not paying your mortgage. We have a deal with them: You stop trying to murder our civilians with rockets and we open the border crossings. When they blatently violate the agreement we have to show them that there is a consequence. The fact that nobody was killed or injured THIS TIME is completely irrelevant. It was by sheer luck and the grace of G-d Himself that nobody was killed yesterday DESPITE the best efforts of the Palestinians.
