Obama defends his vision of patriotism

Saturday, 5 July 2008

The Democratic Presidential hopeful Barack Obama has been defending his vision of patriotism, describing it as loyality to America's ideals

Mr Obama has distanced himself from a campaign spokesman who questioned whether the Vietnam War experience of his Republican rival John McCain qualified him for President

The campaign is turning into a fierce debate over who has the greatest patriotism.

Barack Obama is endeavouring to dispel consistent and nagging rumours that he just is not American enough
