The Democratic Presidential hopeful Barack Obama has been defending his vision of patriotism, describing it as loyality to America's ideals
Mr Obama has distanced himself from a campaign spokesman who questioned whether the Vietnam War experience of his Republican rival John McCain qualified him for President
The campaign is turning into a fierce debate over who has the greatest patriotism.
Barack Obama is endeavouring to dispel consistent and nagging rumours that he just is not American enough
