Confirmed swine flu cases pass 10,000 mark

The number of confirmed swine flu cases around the world has passed the 10,000 mark, according to the World Health Organisation.
The UN agency says the virus has now spread to 40 different countries and has claimed at least 80 lives.
It says the outbreak has escalated in Asia, despite stringent government efforts to contain the virus.
Chief Medical Officer Tony Holohan is due to give an update on Ireland's preparedness later today.
