Sarah Palin's daughter gives birth to baby boy

The teenage daughter of former US vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin has given birth to a baby son, according to reports in the United States.

People magazine says 18-year-old Bristol Palin gave birth on Saturday.

Mrs Palin announced the pregnancy of her unwed daughter shortly after being nominated as the Republican vice presidential candidate for the recent US election.

There were suggestions that it could damage her credibility as a religious conservative, but it appeared to have little effect on her campaign in the end.
