Police have arrested a woman accused of dressing as a nurse and stealing a newborn baby from a hospital.

China's official Xinhua News Agency said that police found the woman in southern China, far from the northern Shaanxi province where the baby disappeared.

The report said the woman was caught on a surveillance video taking the baby into a hospital bathroom on November 21 and then emerging in street clothes.

Officials say the baby is in good health, and that the woman allegedly told police she recently had an induced abortion and then regretted it.
