Planning permission sought for eco-friendly hotel in Louth

Published 07/01/2007 | 12:15

Planning permission has been sought for a twenty-three bedroom four star eco-friendly hotel on the Battle of the Boyne site in County Louth.

The application to Louth County Council by businessman Gavin Collins stated that the two-storey hotel on the northside of the Boyne will be designed 'using ecological building practices.'

It proposed using a wood pellet heating system and solar panels, and wanted the hotel to become part of the interactive heritage facilities in the area.

A viewing platform over the site of the Battle of the Boyne is also being proposed.
