Channing Tatum has proved he's an old-fashioned romantic at heart.

"Love letters? I write them a lot to be totally honest," the actor confessed at the Hollywood premiere of his new film Dear John.

The movie is about a soldier, played by Channing, who falls for a conservative college student (Amanda Seyfried) while he's home on leave and the subsequent letters they write to each other after he's posted overseas.

It would seem his romantic side rolls over into real life. The actor admitted he loved writing to his wife, TV actress Jenna Dewan, all the time.

"I just write little notes and put them all around the house, maybe not letters but little notes."

Despite the pair being deeply in love, Channing said kids aren't quite on the cards just yet.

"I think it'll still be a little while. Jenna still wants to have a career," he explained.

"I'm ready, but it kind of takes her out of the game for a little while and she's got some stuff still yet to do."
